2010:

The vast majority of the independent sales force members’ primary source of profit is selling product. In addition, all Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants can earn income from commissions, dovetailing, prizes and awards. To be eligible for commissions, Independent Beauty Consultants must be active themselves and have at least one active recruit during the relevant period. Members of the independent sales force are considered active in a particular month (and for two months after) when they place at least $200.00 in wholesale orders for cosmetics intended for resale during the month.

In 2010 , there were over 29,573 members of the independent sales force of Mary Kay Cosmetics Ltd. in Canada. Of the 3,836 who were in the independent sales force for at least one year and who earned commissions, 47.7% earned commissions in excess of $100. Of the 532 of those who were Mary Kay Independent Sales Directors, the top 50% earned commissions during the year of $17,649 to in excess of $100,000. Of the 24 of those who were Mary Kay Independent National Sales Directors, 50% earned commissions during the year in excess of $100,000.

2008:

  •  30,679 sales force members (down 4% from 2007, and down 10% from 2006)
  • Of the 4,278 sales force members who were in the sales force for at least one year and earned commissions, 2,2267 (53%) earned $100 or less in commissions
  • Of the 608 sales directors (8% decrease from 2007, 16% decrease from 2006), 304 earned $16,567 or more in commissions
  • Of the 24 national sales directors, 16 earned $100,000 or more in commissions. 8 earned a non-executive income less than $100,000.

2007:

  • 31,891 sales force members (down 7% from 2006)
  • Of the 4,795 sales force members  who were in the sales force for at least one year and earned commissions, 2,445 (51%) earned $100 or less in commissions
  • Of the 659 sales directors (9% decrease from 2006), 330 earned $17,500 or more in commissions
  • Of the 25 national sales directors, 17 earned $100,000 or more in commissions. 8 earned a non-executive income less than $100,000.

2006:

  • 34,272 sales force members
  • Of the 4,843 sales force members who were in the sales force for at least one year and earned commissions, 2,421 earned $100 or less in commissions
  • Of the 724 sales directors, 362 earned $16,500 or more in commissions
  • Of the 21 national sales directors, 16 earned $100,000 or more in commissions

2005:

  • 32,821 sales force members
  • Of the 4,712 sales force members who were in the sales force for at least one year and earned commissions, 2,356 earned $100 or less in commissions
  • Of the 673 sales directors, 337 earned $17,00 or more in commissions
  • Of the 17 national sales directors, 15 earned $100,000 or more in commissions


2004:

  • 29.357 sales force members
  • Of the 4,533 sales force members who were in the sales force for at least one year and earned commissions, 2,266 earned $140 or less in commissions
  • Of the 661 sales directors, 331 earned $15,500 or more in commissions
  • Of the 16 national sales directors, 8 earned $100,000 or more in commissions

1999:

  • 16,000 sales force members
  • Of the 2,489 sales force members who were in the sales force for at least one year and earned commissions, 1,245 earned $199 or less in commissions
  • Of the 346 sales directors, 173 earned $19,000 or more in commissions
  • Of the 6 national sales directors, 3 earned $100,000 or more in commissions
