Proof Of Ordering to “Finish a Goal”
We often talk about how Mary Kay consultants and directors are prone to ordering products they don’t need so they can “finish a goal.” Rachel Ryan has done it. Chelsea Adkins has done it.
How do we know? Well when someone is constantly having sales that essentially give them NO PROFIT… you know it’s because they have too many products on hand. In other words, they bought a ton to finish that car, and now they have to unload it.
Chelsea is big on telling us she sold zillions of dollars of products. Except she didn’t. She just ORDERED zillions of dollars of products.
Here’s some fun proof of her over-ordering. I’ll let her words and picture speak for themselves.
“The Crown Unit has collectively
soldordered over $70K this month…”There, fixed it for you, Chels.
Dear Ms./Mr. PTC this is what we are talking about when you accuse us of not knowing what happens in a person’s “business”. These are the type of screenshots we document that shows that directors at all levels have overwhelmingly large amounts of inventory that they cannot sell at “retail price” and have to try to recoup their losses at by selling at near “wholesale prices”.
These ridiculous masks, which are just glycerin on a piece of saran wrap cut into a vaguely face-shaped blob, retail for $40/box. That means they cost Chelsea $20 each plus sales tax. Rough estimate–there are probably 50 in each of those 5 boxes, so 250 just in this picture. So, just in this picture, we are looking at roughly $5000 of inventory that Chelsea admits she can’t move at full retail. I can take a heck of a vacation for that amount of money. Or save into a college or retirement fund. Or pay off bills/debt.
Someone please tell me again how this is a good investment or a wise way to run a business.
“Women won’t buy from an empty wagon.” Well, apparently, they won’t buy from an overflowing one, either.
She is selling them at cost, and likely isn’t having much luck moving them at that price, either.
True, because I can buy the same stupid thing at Walmart for $1.50. How did they ever think these were going to sell? Especially in those quantities!
Another gimmicky product. Ebay and other sites are flooded with these MK masks.
Macy’s doesn’t keep that many of a single item in stock (softline items tend to come in lots of 6, 12, or 24, with the 24 usually for established basics that don’t change seasonally, like socks, underwear, and mens’ dress shirts. It was rare that there was more than 6 of a hardline item in stock, and only if it was something in high demand. Like when PA’s car seat laws changed and suddenly everyone needed a booster seat). Sephora doesn’t keep that many of a single item in stock. CVS doesn’t keep that many of a single cosmetic item in stock.
It has a finite shelf life, trends and colors in the cosmetics industry change seaonally and yearly. Unsold inventory doesn’t make them any money and takes up space in the stockroom. It either has to be clearanced out, cutting into their profit margins, or discarded.
It’s the same for Chels et al. They’ve squandered thousands of dollars on this stuff and it’s reaching the end of its life, so she’s either got to toss it or unload it any way she can: giveaways, sell for pennies on the dollar, or foist off on the inmates of a Brazilian womens’ prison in the name of God.
She played stupid games for stupid prizes, and now her wagon is overflowing. And now she’s trying to sell diamonds from a wagon overflowing with pig poop.
Why would you ever want to sell this CRAP when Chelsea posts that she’s got too many in stock and she’s got to offer a massive discount to clear it out?
