The Mary Kay Beauty Book is a company published document that contains both an overview of the company along with a description and product list of each product line. It has been around since the beginning of time.

The online version was a few years old, so it’s not surprising that the company is discontinuing it.

Some directors are not happy!

Margaret Leonelli is deeply concerned!!!!! She uses this daily! The company is focusing on making everything virtual!

Eleanor Reigel agrees. Ryan Rogers does not need the money so consultants are being asked to take on more expenses.

Angelica Bertucci uses this everyday and thinks that this will make the business rely only on digital and social media.

Donna Josellis asks if the company realizes consultants are there to sell.

If the company was making money selling copies to consultants, they wouldn’t be discontinuing it. If Mary Kay products sell themselves, why do consultants need this book?

Why do they constantly admit that they are not in fact the She-E-O of their own small business? I thought it was a point of honour that they worked for themselves?

  2. So, do they think MK Corp really gives two hoots and a holler about what they have to say?

Also: Isn’t all this commentary NEGATIVE in nature? That itself is a big no-no in this cult, er, pyramid scheme, er MLM, er Direct Sales company.

It is time to wake up and smell the coffee Donna. From MKC’s perspective, the consultants are actually there to order and to recruit! There are no corporate incentives to actually sell the products.

  4. By Mary Kay going all digital they become just like any other MLM. The focus has been and remains recruiting and ordering. They do not care if you sell one thing as long as you order product. The incentives they offer are insulting in my opinion. The monthly incentive last month was a cheap flowered gardening set. And you could get one with only a $700 wholesale order! ( used to be $600) Ridiculous!

  5. I have a feeling Ryan is moving MK towards getting rid of the MLM model. People are sick of MLMs. They don’t want to be constantly bothered by an MLM rep acting like they care SO MUCH and they just want to SERVE YOU when they’re just trying to get anyone with a pulse and a bank account to make a purchase so they can keep their rank. It’s disingenuous no matter how much the Mary Kay reps protest that it’s not. And after everything humanity has been through recently, people want genuine human connection. Not this fakery. Leave me alone to purchase my skincare and makeup from wherever the heck I want to. Stop trying to take up my time by wheedling me to attend one of your parties or meetings or events under the guise of being “pampered” when ultimately you’re going to just try to recruit me. I can get everything I need quickly and easily in today’s world and then I can spend my time with the people who matter most to me.

      • It’s a matter of time! We should start a betting pool.
I’d say they are waiting for some of the more “seasoned” people to “age out.” It won’t be as devastating to the younger generation who “don’t know the heart of Mary Kay Ash.”
But, it also depends on the Benjamins. It’s all about the Benjamins, baby.

  6. They’re panicking because they’ve had no training in the products and have no idea what’s in them, how they work, and what their limitations are. They use the Beauty Books as a cheat sheet that tells them what to say because otherwise “…..uhhhh…..”.

Dunno why they’re whining about the virtual QVC experience. QVC sells hundreds of beauty brands and has a third channel devoted to beauty products 24/7. Think about how many customers they must have in order to make having that much stuff available worthwhile – customers who are fine with ordering and waiting a few days.
Those same customers are also free to leave reviews on those products, and some people get downright savage when a product doesn’t 1001% live up to their expectations.

However, the QVC show hosts are trained in the products and there’s usually either the inventor or a product rep on hand to answer questions, and demonstrate the stuff. Plus models who know how to apply makeup without ending up looking like Dee Snyder.
