Failing Since 2011
Here’s a note from Tina, a Mary Kay lady who has been failing since 2011 but is not going to quit! There are reasons! Obviously the opportunity still worked for her, and she’s sorry it didn’t work for us.
Mary Kay is not now, nor has it ever been an MLM. It is a dual marketing model. Now that that has been settled, I’m sorry that Mary Kay did not work for you. As with all entrepreneurial ventures there are upsides and downsides and it takes a lot of work and knowing when to exercise discretion and good judgment in the appropriate amount of inventory to purchase based strictly on your ability and or desire to get out there and sell it. This is a HARD business to be in these days. It takes a lot of work, dedication and endurance, not to mention a thick skin.My business never took off because my husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness around the time I joined in 2011. I’m still in and don’t plan to leave. I’ve had ups and downs. I’ve been “porched,” ghosted, stood up, cancelled at the last minute, missed my goals, been inactive almost to termination and been part of a brand new unit only to have my director lose our unit. Been there for the cheers and tears.
Fact is, anyone with a job is expected to meet certain goals and criteria for continued perks and employment. If you don’t, you lose your rank and they take away your company car. I don’t hold with the mad dash to recruit, especially when trying to make sales director. What you DON’T want is a bunch of people trying to do you a favor who have no intention of actually staying and doing the work. To me, that’s the quickest way to lose your unit in a flash. Mary Kay millionaires are out there. I’ve met many of them! It can be done and is being done.
Actually, I have no idea why I am even on this site writing this. I find the overall nasty tone of the Pink Truth unpleasant and off-putting. Also you are not working FOR Mary Kay, Inc., you are and independent business owner. As the boss, get your own insurance and set up your own 401(K) and do some private lending.
There’s a lot of sour grapes on here. But seeing as how I’m still making money working when I am able, getting great training, meeting new friends and generally enjoying the Hell out of hanging ith positive, powerful women on a mission, I’m gonna hang around with the Mary Kay ladies. True but you could also use your earned recompense to buy your own car. Then you are not reliant of the vagaries of the job market.

You are not an independent business owner since you cannot decide how to advertise or what brands to stock, what your goals are or any of the myriad decisions a real business owner makes.

You have to look into Stein MakeUp MLM it’s all over TikTok. One of my favorite Tiktokers is a private investigator tells stories and does her makeup.. sadly the makeup she uses is Stein. It’s about to be the next Lularoe.

Not the “up to 40%”, which means it will usually be less, and the “build your own team” which means recruit your customer base.

My husband is on his way to pick his third pickup truck in three years. Currently the sticker is over $90,000, this is before it is outfitted with equipment for his job.
He was ASKED by the company what he WANTED because he knows what he NEEDS to do his job. That Mary Kay sticker that YOU BUY to put in the back window? His name is printed and has been sitting in his desk drawer for months, PURCHASED BUY THE COMPANY because they ordered his new truck.
Once the truck came in, they asked what he needed for it. Invoices were sent to him yesterday, things are ordered already for it. He gets to put his Army stickers on it. He has a Yeti cooler and load out box, Duluth equipment for comfort and ease of use for paperwork. His backpack is in there with a computer in it. Special locks for everything.
He is on his way to get it now, 2 hours away and I know they will stop for breakfast. He will spend most of the day moving tools from the old truck to the new one. He will fill it up with diesel before he even starts on his way home.
Guess who is paying for all of this? THE COMPANY.
His criteria to get this new truck? HE DOES HIS JOB.
So go ahead with your criteria to get your “career car”. Let us know how much it costs YOU to get it. Who will pay for your party when you pick it up, or will there be an entrance fee to cover the cost of that party?
WOW …. what does he do? That’s a sweet company car, unless it involves getting shot at.
He works for a company that does water transfer for the gas wells. He’s a mechanic for the equipment they use.
