Carrie is a two time sales director in the Jamie Taylor National Area underneath Taylor McKnight. (Two time means she was a director, lost her unit because she didn’t make production, and then became a sales director all over again so she could continue to experience the pain of scrounging for production at the end of each month.

Carrie is offering a new service for her clients – Makeup Master Classes. Would you take makeup classes from her?

  1. Yikes. The problem isn’t just her credibility in teaching a makeup class (given the photos). The additional problem is everyone knows this is really a cringey, high pressure MK sales pitch, and will not be enjoyable for anyone involved.

MK reps are taught to mislead to get recruits to their classes. That deception leads to burned bridges. Burned bridges leads to isolation. Isolation leads to desperation. Desperation leads to posts like Carrie’s.

Don’t be like Carrie. Quit Mary Kay and experience true friendship again.

    • Gosh, your response is so spot on. I recently had the experience of several of my MK “friends” reaching out to me because they “miss our friendship.” I was washing dishes when I recalled their contact attempts. That made me think – what if my 20+ years of MK “friendships” actually skewed my entire concept of “friendships,” and it made me kind of sad. I struggled as a child to have/make/keep friends, and then I finally reach adulthood and the majority of “friends” I make are a direct result of MK. So when I ended my MK “career” most of those “friends” went with it.
If you are reading this and you are a part of MK, you really need to step back and consider WHY you are doing it. Are you deceiving yourself, as I was? It’s painful to reflect on. Ouch.

  2. She looks like a makeup “don’ts” poster.

The foundation is too light, too pink, and shows every wrinkle she’s got.

Those horrible brows that look like she drew them on with a magic marker.

The blush is too pink and not blended in.

Pink eyeshadow was a no-no even back in the 80s.

That old trick of drawing outside your lips to make them look bigger, but really just makes it look like your lipstick melted. Or that you’re walking around with wax lips.

It’s a shame, because in the few pictures where she’s not wearing her clown paint she’s very pretty. She might want to TAKE a master class or two before going near anybody else.

  3. Carrie is a pretty young woman…. who is a victim of poorly applied, poorly matched, and horribly blended makeup. The clownh00ker makeup is unflattering and should make anyone run in the opposite direction. My unsolicited advice to Carrie is to learn color theory and take a makeup class or six BEFORE offering your own.

  4. Makeup application aside, with the exception of one of those photos, her eyes have that dead look. The smile doesn’t come anywhere near reaching the eyes.

  5. Why would I want to take a “makeup masterclass” from an MLM rep when I have access to all kinds of tutorials and advice from actual professional makeup artists on the internet?

  6. 1. She looks hideous! Back in the day we would say she needs to be taught how to apply makeup and pick out correct colors.
    2. Don’t say you have 10 spots and then say you have 8 left. LoL!
    3. Save yourself, get a real job!

  7. Mh, I think right now it’s going to be a little too much about the person and less about the pink devil. I still think the persons got to be cosidered as victims of the pink Satan. I think stuff like bodyshaming don’t help the cause.

      • Donnie, there isn’t any body shaming going on in the article or the comments. Overwhelmingly people say she is very pretty without her makeup mistakes. Yes, initially the consultants start out as victims of deception and manipulation, but somewhere down the road, the truth begins being related on where the mkrap money comes from and how you get people to turn it over. THAT’S when you switch from victim to volunteer.

  8. I’m of the opinion that if a person can’t change something about themselves in 10 minutes then don’t bring it up. Makeup is changeable.
